Laptop Lunches Bento-Ware Review

What an exciting post I have for you today! Laptop Lunches was kind enough to send me one of their AMAZING Bento-Ware Lunch Boxes to review :) It has been great having this new lunch box, there are soooo many opportunities for a fun lunch packing experience with Laptop Lunches!!! I'll start with this weeks lunches then be sure to keep reading to see why we love our new lunch box!

Todays lunch was pretty simple. I was more concerned with seeing how much food would fit inside the Bento Lunch Box 2.0 then I was with a lunch theme. Let me tell you, the storage space is great! Spacious enough to include lunch and two snacks for my Ladybug and even a place to hold her utensils! This is a major bonus for us, and I mean major! We struggle with finding a place for Ladybug's utensils when we pack her lunch in our Yubo and I often have to exclude our Ice Pack in order to make room for her spoon and fork. That will definitely not be an issue with this lunch box! And although I didn't go theme or pick crazy with this lunch, it's always easy to liven it up with a few colorful silicone dividers :)

In this Ladybug Lunch:
Blueberry Bagel with Cream Cheese
Sliced Turkey Hot Dog & Ketchup (in dipping container)
Strawberries & Apples
Pretzels & Graham Crackers

Tomorrows lunch, while still nothing fancy, is a little more done up :D. I included picks that spell "Riley" (you guessed it, that is Ladybugs name) and a green flower pick for some easy added cuteness! It's been a while since I've packed Macaroni for my Ladybug so I knew the Laptop Lunches leak proof container would be perfect for this!

In this Ladybug Lunch:
Macaroni & Cheese
Tangerines & Grapes
Mango Applesauce
Pirates Booty & Animal Crackers

And now, on to the REVIEW!

We received the "Garden" Bento Lunch Box 2.0. It is a Coral colored bento box with inner containers in teal, green, yellow, magenta, and orange. Ladybug and I LOVE the colors of our new lunch box! Ladybug is 2 years old and in the color learning process so she was pretty excited at the variety of colors in this lunchbox, she even dubbed it her new "Rainbow Lunchbox" :)  Not very fond of the colors??? Not to worry, Laptop Lunches offers a variety of colors for both the lunch box and the inner containers. Check them out  HERE

Below is a picture of our Bento Box 2.0 in its wrapping and fresh out of the box. See how beautiful all of the colors look? The lime, magenta, and orange colored containers come with lids to seal in runny foods without leaking. This feature is great for us because I often pack fruits for my Ladybug that can get a little juicy throughout the day (strawberries, for example), as well as foods such as yogurt, applesauce, soup, macaroni, etc., etc. The possibilities really are endless with the leak proof containers! The containers with lids are also shaped with rounded edges instead of squared. If you were to select a bento lunch box that has inner containers all in one color this would make it easier to easily link the lids with their matching containers instead of trying them on several different containers. Something I would most likely do :)

The inner containers are stackable as well. If, like me, you plan on using these containers for more than just the Laptop Lunches Bento-Ware box, then this is a great space saver :). But you can of course place them in the lunch box as well, an even GREATER space saver!

Are you curious about the size of the Bento Lunch Box 2.0? The dimensions of the outer container are approximately 9"x 7" x 2 1/4 inches. The two larger containers (teal and lime) hold 1 1/4 cup and 1 2/3 cup each; the two smaller containers (yellow and magenta) hold 3/4 and 2/3 cup each. The orange container, which is considered a dip container, holds 1/8 cup. If you are more of a visual person, below the Laptop Lunches Bento Lunch Box is pictured with our EasyLunchBoxes and Go Green Lunch Box. You can see from the picture that our Bento Lunch Box is similar in size to our EasyLunchBoxes. The retail price for a Bento Lunch Box is $23.99 which is relatively similar to both the Yubo and Go Green Lunch Box but more expensive than the EasyLunchBoxes.

Laptop Lunches are manufactured in California. I'm a California girl so this is a plus for us :) It is also BPA, PVC, and toxin free--- a plus for EVERYONE!

I was slightly worried that because there are so many containers to keep track of, my Ladybug might misplace one or more of them. But she hasn't :) And I don't see it happening in the future, thank goodness! Opening and closing the lunch box was difficult for her, but again, she is only 2 and I'm not too bothered by it because she has teachers at school to help her open and close both the lunch box and the inner containers as needed. I don't think any children ages 5+ would have any problem opening and closing the lunch box independently though, and Hubby and I opened it just fine :)

To sum it all up...

What we LOVE about out Bento Lunch Box 2.0
  • Holds enough food for young children and adults
  • Special space for utensils and napkins!!!
  • Promotes portion control
  • Leak proof containers and dip container
  • BPA, PVC, and Lead free
  • ALL pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe
  • COLORS, COLORS, COLORS!
  • Option to order insulated lunch bag and additional inner containers of varying sizes
  • Manufactured in California
Things to consider (not necessarily cons, but that stood out):
  • The lunch box and containers may be difficult to open for younger children
  • For some reason, our lunch box doesn't close all the way. Nothing leaks out of the box and the food doesn't spill from one container into the other, but it's still a little annoying : /
All in all, Laptop Lunches is Ladybug Lunches and MommyBug approved :) For sizes, prices, and fun surprises, go to www.LaptopLunches.com!
